Lauran Clifton
Lauran Clifton joined Robinson + McGuinness in 2023 following 18 months as an Associate to a Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Lauran brings with her a well-developed understanding of complex parenting and property matters to her practise of family law. She takes the time to understand the needs of her clients and applies her experience in a tailored and individualised manner through her calm, empathetic, pragmatic and practical approach.
Lauran holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University. She was awarded the Ann Downer memorial prize in Australian Public Law. Lauran completed her Practical Legal Training through the College of Law and was admitted as a solicitor of the ACT Supreme Court in August 2022.
Lauran’s professional background includes work with Legal Aid ACT, the Aboriginal Legal Service ACT/NSW and the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA), where she contributed to a paper highlighting the need for legal firms to develop cultural competency practices to deliver improved legal services.
Lauran is a member of the ACT Law Society and the Women Lawyers Association ACT.
